Hodge Hill 2020

Hodge Hill 2020Hodge Hill 2020 is a vision to transform our area for the better.

After he was first elected, Liam pioneered a government and district-sponsored programme to create a community vision for the future of our district. Key to delivering our vision is the transformation of;

  • Our community’s human capital. We aim to achieve this this by transforming local welfare to work programmes, education and inspiration of local youngsters
  • Our community’s physical capital. Feedback from hundreds of Liam’s community meetings was fed into a high level planning group and a community conference which turned our ideas into four exciting proposals for clusters that would make Hodge Hill a destination of choice;
  • Our community’s social capital. We aim to do this by building a new generation of civic activists. The power of social action is at the heart of our work. Groups that we work with include, Worth Unlimited, eVolution and COMM:PACT, Our work with local activists inspired Local Action Network.

On Friday 15th February 2008, 25 leading stakeholders from industries as diverse as business, education, local and national government, regeneration, health and care met to map out the investments and plans we know are coming in Hodge Hill in the months and years ahead, in order to:

  • Re-enthuse partners about the vision
  • Clarify plans, ideas and investments we know are planned, together with time frames
  • Agree who will lead on which projects, what the timetables are and what the next steps are
  • Identify requirements for outside help

This was followed by the start of a big conversation amongst residents about the future of Hodge Hillis begun at Liam’s HH2020 launch at Cloverlea Hall playscheme, where local children wrote up what they want to be in 2020. The ideas will be placed in a time capsule with others completed by primary school children to be kept safe at the House of Commons.

Key reports include Liam’s initial analysis of the challenges confronting Hodge Hill, the HH2020 Conference Report, and the HH2020 Roundtable report.
